Pyrithion: The burden of sorrow
18/07/13 || Ironpants
The act of transforming into a man.
A friend of mine shoved a copy of this 3-tracker in my hand and it looked kinda cool with both album cover and logo reminding me of Suffocation’s latest album. And before I even listened, I looked up the band, and found out that it was Tim Lambesis of As I Lay Dying’s side-project. “Well, OK…” I thought and popped it into the CD-player, without a trace of hope in finding something good.
I was wrong, Mr. Lambesis have found out about this cool thing called death metal and he and his new friends shows that they are capable of doing some shit correctly. The first track is killer with good vocals, crushing riffs and the obligatory modern death metal drumming and track no.2 is also pretty cool. But, you hear some traces of metalcore here and there, especially in the last track, and also that djenting 8-string guitar sound. I can let that slide for the time being, and I eagerly await a full length album. Check this EP out and see for yourselves.
7/10: Out of the metalcore cocoon a death metal butterfly flies.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
